Josh Mullin reckons Hamilton Accies youngsters Sam Nicolson and Adam McGowan are capable of playing a big part in the club's promotion push next season.
The duo both made late cameos in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Raith Rovers, with 16-year-old Nicolson earning his debut and 17-year-old McGowan notching a sixth appearance of the season.
Just one game remains of the season with Friday's trip to Inverness bringing the curtain down on a disappointing Championship campaign, so attention is already starting to turn to next term.
And winger Mullin, on loan from Livingston, says he's been impressed with the youngsters and sees no reason why they can't play a bigger role in a promotion push for 2022/23.
He said: "I'd like to think they can be a part of things next season.
"They certainly didn't look out of place.
"Big Sam has got a great presence and the manager will probably want to get him in more to work with him in terms of what he's looking for positionally, things like that.
"Set-pieces are a massive part of football and so if he can give us that presence and aggression then I don't see why not.
"Gowser got on as well and I thought he was sharp when he came on.
"That's the way Hamilton Accies are. They want to bring the young boys through so we'll see.
"I think next season we need just a wee bit more experience as well.
"That's not down to lack of trying or lack of information from the manager.
"We work hard in training, we are in most days, and the manager has been brilliant with individuals, letting them know what he wants from them and what he needs.
"So I think it might be a case of taking a wee bit of time, refresh, regroup and go again in the summer."
One player looking less and less likely to be there next season is Accies defender Jamie Hamilton.
The 20-year-old has been offered a new deal with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
But Accies boss Stuart Taylor is yet to hear back.
Asked about the situation after Saturday's game, Taylor said: "Jamie may well have made a decision, but we don't know that yet.
"That's something you'd need to ask Jamie.
"From where we are, we are still waiting."
