Stuart Taylor says Hamilton Accies will get it right on the pitch if they stick to their beliefs - but is working hard on fostering a ruthless streak in them.
Taylor says his side are creating plenty of chances but admits they're not taking enough of them, which was exemplified as Ayr United fought back to draw 1-1 in a game that could easily have been beyond them at the interval.
Hamilton passed up several chances, and Ronan Hughes sent a penalty off the top of the crossbar as the hosts struggled to make their dominance count.
Looking ahead to Saturday's Championship clash at Raith Rovers, Taylor said: "I think it will be a good game of football, it's two teams that try to play football, two teams that try and be creative, get the ball down and play from the back.
"I just hope we come out with the win.
"In the game the last time we played against them [a 3-0 home defeat on November 13] we had good opportunities, but they were more ruthless than us.
"Their manager, John McGlynn, has been up there for three or four years, he's certainly given Raith Rovers a new way of playing, and there's a lot of that coming to fruition, so it does take time.
"I think when we played them earlier on in the season we knew it was going to be a difficult game, and we had to change a little bit of how we go about our work, because of how they go and play.
"Although it's really important that we deal with their strengths, it's important that we stick to our strengths and try and highlight any weakness that they might have.
"It's about sticking to our beliefs, what we're doing, but we need to be more ruthless, we know that and we're working on that.
"But I would say that Raith have been playing like that for a few years now, they're comfortable with it, confident with it, and we're getting there."
Taylor says he's encouraging Accies to make more of their chances and said: "I think we've been doing really well of late, we would like to turn the screw a little bit more and start turning those draws into wins, and doing that again is by being more ruthless.
"We've spoken about that this week, we've spoken about it a lot in the last couple of months, so we're turning the screw a little bit more and it's just going that extra yard, and just trying to make sure that when we go ahead in games that we stay ahead.
"A lot of people said we could have been 3-0 up at half-time on Saturday but what I will say is that we should have been 2-0 up [with Ronan Hughes' penalty].
"We had another opportunity to go and put the game to bed, unfortunately we have a thing just now with penalties, which we're working on, and it's about making sure that when we do get those opportunities that we're putting them away.
"It's great that when we've got the pressure in and about their final third, about their penalty box, that we're turning that into goal-scoring opportunities, into penalties, because if weren't doing that I would say we've got a problem.
"We are creating chances, now we have to go that extra yard and make sure we put the ball in the back of the net.
"That doesn't just come down to strikers or wide players - midfielders, full-backs, centre-backs all have a say in scoring goals as well, when it comes to set-pieces.
"We do know our jobs, it's exactly the same as when we're asking to keep a clean sheet and we defend from the front, and it's making sure that everybody chips in and takes responsibility as we do.
"We don't have a blame culture here any more, it's about making sure we all do our job and chip in to help out."
