Hamas Urges Trump To Stop War In Gaza Strip

Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump attends a "commit to caucus" event, in Ankeny

The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas issued a statement on Wednesday, calling on the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump to take action to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip. This declaration follows reports that Trump had urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resolve the conflict before his inauguration on January 20. Trump emerged victorious in the presidential election, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris.

Hamas emphasized that Trump, as the apparent winner of the U.S. presidential election, should heed the voices of the American public who have expressed concerns about Israeli aggression in Gaza. The group urged the new administration to work towards halting what they described as a 'war of genocide and aggression' against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as against the Lebanese people. Hamas also called for an end to military support and political backing for Israel and for the recognition of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, Hamas underscored that the Palestinian people will continue to resist the Israeli occupation and will not compromise on their rights to freedom, independence, self-determination, and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

According to a source from the Times of Israel, Trump reportedly conveyed his message to Netanyahu during a meeting at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in July. The Biden-Harris administration, while generally supportive of Israel, has criticized the Israel Defense Forces' recent military actions. President Biden had called for a ceasefire in October, just before Israel launched military operations in Lebanon.
