The Israeli military has declined to comment on reports from Iranian state media claiming that Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran. The military stated that they do not respond to reports in the foreign media.
On the other hand, Hamas released a statement asserting that Haniyeh was killed during an Israeli raid on his residence in Tehran. The incident allegedly occurred after Haniyeh had attended the inauguration of the Iranian president.
Haniyeh had been a prominent figure within Hamas for many years, having joined the group in the late 1980s. Over the decades, he rose through the ranks to become a senior leader within the organization.
