Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, reported engaging in intense clashes with Israeli forces in the vicinity of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City. The group claimed to have targeted Israeli vehicles, resulting in casualties among their ranks.
Hamas alleged that Israel carried out an attack on Al-Shifa Hospital, leading to the assassination of Gaza’s Police Service Commander, Brigadier General Fayek al-Mabhouh. In response, Hamas vowed to continue resisting what they described as the enemy’s malicious intentions and prevent chaos from spreading.
Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed that a total of 20 individuals identified as terrorists were killed in the hospital area, including Al-Mabhouh. The IDF stated that Al-Mabhouh held a significant position within Hamas as the head of the Special Operations Directorate of Hamas Internal Security.
