Organisers of a Halloween event in Gloucester have been forced to apologise for their creepy "dead dolls" window.
Frightmare is running its 20th annual Halloween festival in the city but came under fire from local residents due to their horrifying window display which had "murdered babies" and "dead dolls".
The window in question had a wall covered in newspaper which had blood spatters over it, however, it was the disfigured children's toys which caused major offence.
Some of the dolls were burnt while others had bent limbs in different directions as they laid face down at the foot of the display with blood also on the backs.
Other decorations included a throne made from skulls, a crucifix covered with nails hammered into it and overflowing bio-hazard waste containers.
The unhappy residents wrote a letter to the event organisers and stuck it on the offending window display, which Frightmare replied with a notice of their own.
Frightmare posted a video of the two letters on the event's Facebook page, with the caption: "PUBLIC APOLOGY. Georgia is no longer allowed to do window displays. We've sent her to the mirror room, so she can take a long, hard look at herself."
The video then panned to the disgruntled letter, which read: "Murdered babies? Dead dolls? We do not want our children to see this unsuitable window scene.
"Please remove as it is not appropriate for all passing by to see. Thank you, concerned local parents and residents."
Replying to the notice, Frightmare wrote: "Dear concerned locals and residents.
"We would like to clarify that no babies (or dolls) were harmed in the making of this window display.
"However, we apologise for any distress caused and have removed the doll parts as requested. Happy Halloween."
Comments on the Facebook page supported Frightmare's creative display, with one person writing: "Seriously….. get a grip parents and residents…. Or cross over and walk on the other side?? Duh!!"
Another said: "No wonder kids nowadays are scared of there own shadows!"
A third person said: "That is THE wettest thing I have ever read…. Snowflakes," while a fourth user commented: "Please put some adult sized mannequin body parts instead. Maybe with a sign saying "here lies concerned local residents and parents."
