Former Miami guard Haley Cavinder announced her commitment to join the TCU women’s basketball team exactly one month after entering the transfer portal.
Cavinder will sit out the 2023-24 season and join TCU for the 2024-25 campaign. On Monday, she tweeted on X (formerly known as Twitter) about her decision to join the Horned Frogs program, referring to her last season of eligibility as “the last rodeo.”
Prior to entering the transfer portal on Oct. 13, Cavinder announced her decision to retire from basketball and forgo her one remaining year of college eligibility on the Today.
Last season at Miami, the 5’6” Cavinder averaged 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists, helping the Hurricanes reach the Elite Eight of the women’s NCAA tournament. Prior to her stint at Miami, she and her twin sister, Hanna, played three seasons together at Fresno State.

While Haley made a decision to return to basketball, it remains to be seen if Hanna will return to the court or remain retired.
