Halewood family transforming home into 'Liverpool Christmas light show' with music and special effects

A couple are transforming their home into the 'Liverpool Christmas Light Show' with music and special effects for people to enjoy.

Helen and Marty Walsh lit up their Halewood home last year to raise money for Alder Hey, and are doing the same again this Christmas. Every night, from December 1 to 31, people can drive or walk past and enjoy a sequence of twinkling lights, set to music.

Along with the music, there's videos and images adding to the festive spectacle. The shows run at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm each night, with the last show on New Year's Eve at 11.30pm to see in 2023.

For the switch on event on December 1, special guests will include Father Christmas, The Grinch and the Naughty Elf. Further character visits will pop up throughout the whole show period.

Last year the event raised £1,722.65 for Alder Hey. The couple said: "We got so many requests to raise for Alder Hey again that we just could not resist and decided that Alder Hey would be our chosen charity for 2022."

Helen and Marty are promising the event will be even more magical this time round. They said: "This year, we have added lots more lights and doubled the amount from last year. We have doubled the number of songs that we have sequenced including Sam Ryder's Spaceman. There is something for everyone.

"As well as collecting donations via cash, we now have the facility for people to donate via contactless. We are also having a raffle with some fabulous prizes that have been generously donated by local and national companies." You can see the Liverpool Christmas Light Show at 7 Palmerston Drive, Hunts Cross off Mackets Lane (satnav L25 9GD).
