Hairy Bikers' Si King updates fans on pal Dave Myers condition after cancer news

Culinary expert and one half of the Hairy Bikers, Si King, appeared on ITV's This Morning to update fans on his pal Dave Myers condition, following his cancer diagnosis.

After the news that 64-year-old Dave had been diagnosed with cancer, Si was quick to praise his cooking buddy for being "as tough as old boots", the Mirror reports.

Si appeared on This Morning on Wednesday, for an exclusive cooking segment, but looked a bit lost without his fellow chef.

Hosts Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes asked Si how his pal was doing, and he told the pair: "He's doing okay. He's doing okay, he remains really positive and pretty focused on his treatment.

"He's typically Dave, he's as tough as an old boot. He's doing grand, thank you for asking."

Si also noted that he felt weird appearing on television without his trusty culinary partner, but said: "It's a bit odd without my mate, I have to say but no, it's good."

Dave revealed he was battling cancer on his podcast with Si, saying: "I maybe a baldy biker for a while… it's simply something I have to live with.

"Anyway Kingy, I've got to come clean now, I haven't been too well recently and basically, I've got to have some chemo, you know all this anyway, so this year is going to be a bit quiet for me.

"I'm not going to be filming, some of the festivals I'm not going to be able to go to, some may be okay but this year's a bit of a write off for us."

The TV star added that the prognosis is okay - and that he is going to be fine, as he reassured fans.

He said: "I have had to speak up about this because I don't want to hide under a rock, but I would love it if people respected my privacy and just let me get on with it and give Si and our team all the support they need, that would be great.

"But look, the prognosis is okay, I'm going to be fine."

Dave concluded: "I've just got to tuck in, look after myself, eat sensibly and get over this mess, flog books, and be a happy person so within that, that's where I am.

"I may be a baldy biker for a while so it's just a warning, I don't want to make a fuss about it, I look alright bald actually."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
