Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has shared an update on the chemotherapy he is receiving, revealing the treatment for his cancer is working.
Dave, 64, went public about his diagnosis in May, but hasn't revealed the type of cancer he has. He has been supported by his chef pal Si King throughout his journey.
Now, in a rare interview about his cancer journey so far, Dave has revealed the treatment is working but has left him with some side effects including sore eyes as his eyelashes have fallen out.
TV chef Dave, who was pictured for the first time since his diagnosis recently, also revealed the chemotherapy had affected his taste and smell – but confessed he'd developed a craving for cottage pie and Vimto.
Speaking on Kate Thornton's podcast White Wine and Question Time, he explained: "At the minute I'm going through treatment for cancer and it's like another chapter.
"I went to the doctors complaining of certain bits and bobs and the next thing I know I got a phone and told it's a tumour and I'm going to have chemotherapy.
"Fortunately, the chemo is working but it's the effect chemotherapy has on you. Everyday is a school day.
"My eyes are sore because my eyelashes have fallen out – it's c**p like that that's really irritating.
"But I'm getting there. I've got to go in tomorrow for another lot. I'm just getting through it."
Dave, also said he will "never whinge about anything" and will "embrace life" once he's recovered from his illness.
Speaking about his health woes, he added: "I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But when I get through this, I'll never whinge again about anything. I'm going to embrace life and everything it's got to offer.
"I can't eat garlic at the minute, smells are really acute, it's all gone belly up. I'm told it will come back."
Dave, who married Liliana Orzac in 2011, also revealed that his tastes have changed since undergoing treatment as he now favours a soft drink over a glass of wine when sitting down with his wife.
He said: "I've got a craving for cottage pie and Vimto. Lil's sitting down with a nice glass of Burgundy, and I've got a pint of Vimto. Last time I had Vimto was when I was eight."
TV chef Dave appeared on the podcast alongside his pal Si, 55, who admitted he found it "tough" seeing his friend go through a cancer battle.
He said: "It's hard seeing someone you love in those trenches. It really is tough. He's as tough as an old boot, which is what we're all relying on. He's as hard as nails."
Dave revealed in May that he has been diagnosed with cancer in his joint podcast with his Hairy Biker pal Si.
He said on his Agony Uncles podcast: "I've got to come clean now.
"I haven’t been too well recently and, basically, I’ve got to have some chemo," the chef continued. "I may be a baldy biker for a while it’s simply something I have to live with."
He added: "I don’t want to make a fuss about it, I look alright bald actually."
