A burlesque show will hit the stage in Ayr next week — pledging to promote body confidence among women.
'Haggis, Neeps and Titties' comes to the Town Hall promising to deliver a night to remember for all in attendance.
But behind the frivolous name and risque image, show bosses say an important message comes with their performance.
Laura Stevenson, who performs under the stage name 'Lady Glitterkiss,' told Ayrshire Live: "People have a stereotype of what burlesque might be, and when they come along they often find it is very different.
"Audiences are there to enjoy women — and men — on stage being confident about their bodies.
"And it's about promoting that confidence in all shapes and sizes in an environment where people feel comfortable to perform."
Karyn Hamilton, who performs as 'Bustyy Bleu,' grew up in Ayr and admits the homecoming gig carries an emotional pull.
She revealed: "I used to come to the Town Hall and watch my papa perform in the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. So for me to be on the same stage now is so special.
"I got into burlesque through fitness classes and, like a lot of other performers, lacked that original confidence in my body.
"As a mother of six, you tend to lose that in yourself, and if you'd told me a few years ago that I'd be doing this now then I'd never have believed you."
The ancient art of burlesque, which dates back to the 17th century, will see performers hit the stage next Saturday night, May 21.
Laura added: "We try to build people up and give them the confidence to embrace their own bodies.
"The show carries that very important message and I think anyone who comes along will be pleasantly surprised by the experience and enjoy a great night.
"Unless you come along and see for yourself, you can't make a judgment on the show.
"We have performers ranging from age 22 to women in their early 60s, so there's a real cross section as well.
