Of all the Max original series to date, Hacks is easily one of the biggest. The comedy series has racked up awards nominations and wins throughout its first three seasons, particularly for its two great leading ladies, Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder. And the good times continue as Hacks season 4 is officially on the way.
It did not take long for Max to renew the series, as just hours after the Hacks season 3 finale was released on the streaming service season 4 was given the green light. And now we're just weeks away from the latest chapter in Deborah and Ava's story.
Here is everything we know right now about Hacks season 4.
Hacks season 4 release date
Hacks season 4 premieres on Thursday, April 10, at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT on Max.
The first two episodes of the new season will be available to stream immediately, then the Hacks season 4 release schedule on Max gets a bit interesting. Episodes 3, 4, 5, 6 will premiere on their own over the course of four weeks, then episodes 7 and 8 will premiere together on May 15, followed by episode 9 on May 22 and the Hacks season 4 finale on May 29.
In the meantime, if you've missed any of Hacks or just want to rewatch the series while we wait for new episodes, it is available exclusively on Max in the US (meaning you need a subscription to watch) and on Prime Video in the UK.
Hacks season 4 cast
Most of the beloved Hacks cast will be back for the fourth season. That of course includes central figures Jean Smart as Deborah Vance and Hannah Einbinder as Ava, but also Paul W. Downs as Jimmy, Megan Stalter as Kayla, Carl Clemons-Hopkins as Marcus, Mark Indelicato as Damien and Rose Abdoo as Josefina.
Also returning for the new season are Dan Bucatinsky, Helen Hunt, Tony Goldwyn, Kaitlin Olson, Jane Adams, Lauren Weedman, Christopher McDonald, Poppy Liu, Lorenza Izzo, Johnny Sibilly, Paul Felder, Polly Draper, Luenell, and Aristotle Athari.
A slew of new guest stars have also been announced for Hacks season 4, including Julianne Nicholson (Paradise), Michaela Watkins (Casual), Bresha Webb (Run the World), Robby Hoffman (Verified), Eric Balfour (The Offer), Danny Jolles (Ted), Gavin Matts (Progression), Grover Whitmore, III (The African Desperate), Holmes (Welcome to Flatch), Jasmine Ashanti (Upload), Katy Sullivan (Dexter: New Blood), Matt Oberg (The Residence) and Sandy Honig (Three Busy Debras).
Hacks season 4 plot

After the Hacks season 3 finale saw Ava blackmail her way to the head writer position on Deborah's new late night show (after Deborah surprisingly snubbed her), how the pair handle this new dynamic is going to a big part of the season. Another changing dynamic, though one we think could work out a lot better, is Jimmy and Kayla now officially business partners in their managing firm.
Here's the official Hacks season 4 logline: "Tensions rise as Deborah and Ava endeavor to get their late night show off the ground and make history doing it."
