Sixty years since its inception and that still rings true today. To celebrate its anniversary this May, Habitat is launching a curated collection combining iconic heritage products with innovative new designs, celebrating the best of its past, present, and future and championing Habitat’s long-standing influence in the world of design.

After decades in the industry, its team of in-house designers always have their fingers firmly on the pulse of all the latest interior design trends, curating expressive furniture and decor to suit a range of styles. And that’s only set to continue into 2024 and beyond.
Paying Homage to Heritage
Throughout its history, Habitat has cemented itself as one of the biggest innovators in the world of homeware. Its foundation in the 60s brought a new modern, European way of shopping for the home to the UK with the likes of flatpack furniture and duvets.
In the years since, they’ve proved to be pioneers in their game. From their 70s 'Housepack' service that packaged all the essential elements to furnish a three-bedroom into a six-foot-high container, to the iconic 1980s Graffiti sofa that came with stencils for applying your own pattern, Habitat’s homewares have always had one foot firmly in the future.
Pioneers of Tomorrow
In this latest collection, ‘60 Years of Design’, a total of (you guessed it) 60 new ranges will hit Habitat stores, many of them inspired by icons of the past. Reviving favourites from across the ages, a host of archived designs will be available to buy once again, as we also welcome brand-new contemporary pieces that tap into all the latest trends.
To bring these latest products to life, Habitat has collaborated with nine guest designers, including the likes of Sebastian Conran (son of Habitat’s original founder), textile designer Margo Selby, and London-based artist Simone Brewster. With a team of such diverse designers, the collection blends a range of styles and embraces plenty of colour.
So, what can you expect to see? Archive designs include anglepoise-inspired ‘Bobby’ lamps in bright hues of green and red (ranging from £26 - £75) and a reclined ‘Scoop’ lounger chair for seriously laidback living (£325).
The cyclical nature of design trends also means that plenty of the new products look right at home next to these heritage classics, too. For example, the ‘Portobello’ lamp - featuring a sky blue base, cylindrical purple stem, and a classically curved shade - is a contemporary take on the retro mushroom-themed lighting trend (priced at £45). Meanwhile, larger furniture pieces such as the ‘Akari’ poster bed (£350-£395) embrace block colours and simple forms, making an impactful addition to the home.
