Haas will introduce their one and only car upgrade for the year for the Hungarian Grand Prix, before the team switched focus to its 2023 plans.
The American team had hoped to introduce its upgrade package earlier, but it has now been delayed. Team boss Guenther Steiner has admitted it is likely to now be ahead of the trip to Budapest, which comes at the end of July after races at Silverstone and in Austria and France.
"Maybe it's Hungary because we took a step back and we want to check something else in the wind tunnel," said the Italian-American. But we are full-steam ahead in production for Hungary. We will try to better it but we will see where we get to."
Haas looked to have adapted to the new era of cars well, with Kevin Magnussen hitting the ground running at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Things have got progressively more tough for the team, though, and its cars have suffered from reliability issues as well as struggles to be competitive.
While many rivals have already improved their cars this season, Haas' comparatively tiny budget has forced them to be more restrained. The split with Russian sponsor Uralkali in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine has made a difference, while plans have also been tweaked after expensive crashes from Mick Schumacher in Jeddah and Monaco.
Steiner appears not to be confident about spending any more cash on the VF-22 after the upcoming upgrade, as its engineering efforts will move straight to the team's 2023 plans. "There will be no further upgrades – we will shift to next year's car," he added.
"We are just stopping making parts for this car. You always try to develop but if you find something on this car that gives you a big advantage, yes, you do it. but we are not specifically working on a big package for this car. If we find something which we didn't know about, then we will use it.
"But at the moment, I was asked if we had any other plan, and I said no because if something comes up then I can change my plan and at the moment, the plan is to focus on next year."
