Haaland Nets 30th Premier League Goal With Must-See Overhead Kick

Erling Haaland continued his extraordinary first season in the Premier League on Saturday, notching his 30th league goal of the season in Manchester City’s 4–1 victory against Southampton.

Haaland’s record-setting goal happened during the 68th minute of the match. Man City’s Jack Grealish cut inside and dinked a cross over to Haaland, who completed an acrobatic overhead kick just past goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, giving Manchester City a 3–0 advantage.

Haaland’s 30 goals in only 27 Premier league matches marked the fewest games to accomplish the feat. Prior to his second goal, Haaland opened the scoring moments before halftime as he hung in the air and headed home an assist from Kevin De Bruyne.

The 22-year-old nearly earned his sixth hat-trick since joining Man City on Saturday, but was substituted in the second half (just minutes before City earned a penalty kick).

Haaland’s dominance in the Premier League comes nearly a month after he tied the single-game Champions League scoring record, putting five goals past RB Leipzig. He also became the youngest player to record 30 Champions League goals, completing the feat in 25 games.

Haaland’s milestone Premier League goal is just another feat in what’s been an astounding first season in English football.
