Gwyneth Paltrow has sent a message of support to Sam Fender after the singer announced he is taking a break from the spotlight to work on his mental health.
North Shields rocker and already Geordie legend Sam has had a whirlwind few years in the music industry, since winning the Brit Critics' Choice award in early 2019. Since then Sam and his band have worked their socks off, earning two number 1 albums and touring both across the world, as well as performing at countless festivals including Glastonbury, where Sam made his debut this year after pulling out three years earlier due to illness.
Just last week, Sam, 28, caused hysteria when tickets went on sale for his huge gig at Newcastle's St James' Park next year, with a second date being added before general sale had even started.
But on Monday evening, the Seventeen Going Under star announced to fans that he was stepping away from touring for a while to focus on addressing issues which he'd neglected due to his busy schedule.
In a very honest social media statement, Sam added: "My friends and colleagues have been worried about me for a while and it's not going to get better unless I take the time to do so."
Sam's Instagram post received an instant and massive reaction and among the number of celebrities quick to wish him well was Shakespeare in Love and Sliding Doors star Gwyneth.
The Oscar winning actress took to the comments thread of Sam's post to write: "This is beautiful. We love you. Look after yourself."
Near the end of his statement, in which he revealed his remaining shows in America had been cancelled, Sam shared his excitement at heading to Australia before Christmas and for the sold out St James' gigs.
He ended it by writing: "I can't express how grateful we are to have such an awesome fan base. I've met a fair few of you over the years and those encounters have genuinely restored my faith in humanity, you're all sound as f**k.
"Me and the boys are burnt out and we need this time. Thanks for always sticking by us."
