Gurugram: Live-in couple found dead in Sushant Lok flat

GURUGRAM: Police initiated an inquest inquiry after a young couple, a chef and an employee of a fast food chain who were living together in Sushant Lok, were found dead inside their flat on Monday.

The woman’s body was found on a bed in the house and the man was found hanging from a ceiling fan, police said. No suicide note was recovered. Both Nancy (28) and Ashwani (29) belonged to East Delhi. Ashwani worked as a chef at a five-star hotel in the capital and Nancy at a fast-food chain in Gurugram.

According to police, the couple’s families did not know the two of them were living together in the city for the past one and a half years.

The sequence of events is unclear as of now, police said. It is also not known if one of them died first, or whether it was a suicide pact. The post-mortem reports are awaited.

Police were informed about the incident by Ashwani’s brother on Monday morning around 11:30am.

“Ashwani’s employer called his family after he didn’t show up to the hotel for days. His brother visited the house after taking the address from the employer. When no one opened the door, he kicked it open and found their bodies,” said Poonam Hooda, SHO of Sushant Lok police station.

Police have initiated an inquest inquiry under Section 174 (police to enquire and report on suicide) of CrPC. “The families have been informed. We are waiting for the post-mortem reports,” said SHO Hooda.
