GURUGRAM: The city police have booked a builder for allegedly defrauding 78 families of crores after failing to meet his promise of giving possession of land in Farrukhnagar.
As per the complaint filed by the victim families, the builder had promised them a completely developed residential area in a year. The developer has been identified as Vijay Ranjan, owner of Savyasachi Infrastructure Private Limited. Police said he is on the run.
“We were told that permission, approval, permit and all other types of licenses related to the plot have been taken from the concerned department and the government,” said the complainant Ashish Negi, who added that he is writing the complaint on behalf of 78 victim families with their signatures in the complaint. The victims alleged that they had paid almost 90% of the money for buying the land in 2019.
“We were told that we will be given possession of the said plot within 12 months and its registry will be done for all of us. When we investigated on our end, we learned that neither the land belonged to Ranjan nor approvals were taken,” the complaint read. The builder has been booked under IPC Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and Section 3 of the Haryana Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishment (HPIDFE) Act, 2013.
