Gummy Bear Shaped Magnets Sold on SHEIN Are Recalled Because Two Swallowed Pieces Can Perforate a Child's Intestines

SHEIN Distribution Corporation is recalling 4,640 bear-shaped decorative refrigerator magnets because they contain loose magnets that pose an ingestion hazard and can appeal to children and teens, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Sept. 10. The magnets were sold on SHEIN.com from May 2025 through February 2026 for $3 to $4. No injuries have been reported.

The number of units is small, but the hazard is serious. When more than one strong magnet is swallowed, the pieces can pull toward each other through the walls of the intestines, causing blockages, twisting, or tears that can be life-threatening.
