AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat high court on Monday stayed the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) move to evict 142 families from the riverbed at least for a day when the residents filed a PIL and sought protection from demolition of their huts without granting them an alternate accommodation.
Petitioner’s advocate Aftab Ansari requested the high court for an urgent hearing claiming that the civic authorities would come for demolition on Tuesday morning and the residents have been given a very short notice for eviction.
