Gujarat HC seeks action against ‘agents’ at govt offices

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat high court has asked the chief secretary and principal secretary of the revenue department to take action to eliminate agents acting as representatives of officers and to end this corrupt practice at government departments. Exposing such agents will also keep corrupt officials in check, the court said.

A bench of Justice Sonia Gokani and Justice Mauna Bhatt called for detailed guidelines for all government departments, especially the revenue department, to convey to citizens that they should not fall into the traps of such agents. “This will also bring clarity to common people and preclude them from being prey or being enticed with such falsehood. This may also deter unscrupulous government servants who may be indirectly resorting to such corrupt practices,” the court said.
