Guinness Storehouse to launch Lunar New Year festivities

In celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year, the Guinness Storehouse has decided to mark the occasion and ring in the Year of the Tiger with a series of visitor experiences in one of the city's top tourist attractions.

Kicking off this Friday, January 28 and lasting until Sunday, February 6, the Guinness Storehouse will be "lighting up" and offering an array of experiences including Mandarin audio tours, traditional entertainment and a food collaboration with Hakkahan restaurant.

Additionally, there will be the opportunity to learn about the rich history of Guinness in Asia as well as getting a tiger-themed STOUTie (a pint of Guinness with your selfie on top).

To embrace traditions that are celebrated in many Asian cultures, all visitors to the home of Guinness over the Lunar New Year period will receive a red envelope as a symbol of good wishes and luck for the new year ahead.

Some of these envelopes will contain a special gift including complimentary engraved Guinness glasses, free entry to the Guinness Storehouse and a dining voucher to experience the special Asian themed food collaboration.

The chefs at Guinness Storehouse’s 1837 Bar and Brasserie and Stoneybatter’s revered restaurant Hakkahan have collaborated on two limited edition signature dishes to celebrate the Lunar New Year through food.

They will fuse Asian cuisine with rich and creamy stout to serve Black Pepper and Guinness Extra Stout Short Rib of Beef with Stir Fry Egg Noodle and Pak Choi as well as a vegetarian option of Fried Tofu with Szechuan Pepper Sauce, Steamed Pak Choi, Egg Noodles and Beansprouts.

Both of these dishes will remain on the menu at 1837 Bar and Brasserie for the month of February.

A variety of events will be taking place across the city to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Some of the noteworthy events on the roster include K-Pop dance tutorials, storytelling workshops and online Cantonese or Korean language classes.

The programme of events will kick off with a Lunar New Year Opening Gala on Friday, January 28, presented by the Chinese Embassy for the people of Ireland and featuring a variety of art and culture.
