Musa Barrow scored a 71st-minute winner as Gambia continued their giant killing spree at the Africa Cup of Nations by pulling off an upset 1-0 win over Guinea in Bafoussam to advance to the quarter-finals.
Barrow, who now has two goals and two assists at the tournament, was set up by a defence-splitting pass from Yusupha Bobb and controlled it superbly to take him past the Guinea defence before slotting it into the bottom corner.
Yusupha Njie and then Ibrahima Conte were sent-off late on for second yellow cards, as both teams finished with ten men in a chaotic ending to match. But Gambia held their nerve to reach the last eight in their first ever AFCON appearance.
They will play the winner of Cameroon, tournaments hosts, and Comoros, who will go into the last 16 match with an outfield player in goal due to a Covid outbreak.
