Former Italy goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca believes Tottenham will be landing a coup should they complete the signing of Guglielmo Vicario.
Spurs have identified the Empoli goalkeeper an alternative to David Raya and are in advanced talks to sign the 26-year-old.
Brentford stopper Raya had been of interest but the two London clubs remain some way apart in their valuation of the Spanish international, with the Bees holding out for £40m.

It is thought Vicario will be available for under £20m as new manager Ange Postecoglou hunts for a new goalkeeper.
Long serving club captain Hugo Lloris is expected to leave this summer after confirming his desire for a new challenge.
Reports in Italy suggest the goalkeeper will soon head for a medical in north London and Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi has spoken of his “pride” in selling Vicario to Spurs.
In quotes sourced by the Italian Football Podcast, Pagliuca said: “Vicario is a very good goalkeeper, he will be the most sought after goalkeeper of the transfer window.
"He’s the goalkeeper I like the most in Serie A and has the right maturity now for the step up."
