NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday alleged that the AAP-led Delhi government was discriminating against guest and vocational teachers employed in Delhi schools, and Anganwadi and Asha workers.
The government made announcements to increase the salaries of guest teachers and even made their campaign for the party in other states but went back on its promises, said Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, leader of the opposition in Delhi Assembly.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia had announced on December 23 that the salaries of 22,000 teachers working in schools would be increased and on December 30, CM Arvind Kejriwal approved of the increment, Bidhuri said.
“Even after a lapse of nearly three months, the salary of guest teachers has not been increased. During their election campaign in Punjab, the AAP leaders claimed that salaries of guest teachers had been increased in Delhi, but it was just an election hoax,” Bidhuri alleged.
Aam Aadmi Party did not react to the allegations.
According to Bidhuri, vocational teachers had been struggling for a long time for increment. “They are being paid Rs 16,000 per month in Delhi while the salary in other states is Rs 32,000. The AAP government has bluffed them many times with its false promises,” he alleged.
The leader of the opposition also expressed displeasure over the treatment meted out to Anganwadi and Asha workers, who held a long protest before ESMA was imposed on them. “The Kejriwal government is not giving their dues to the Anganwadi workers and helpers.”
