If you’re wondering what a new Horizon game from Guerrilla might look like, you should probably play Burning Shores again. Narrative director Ben McCaw told Video Games Chronicle that the team scattered plenty of hints about what to expect from Aloy’s next chapter in the PS5 game‘s recent DLC expansion.
“There is actually material in the Burning Shores about [the next game],” McCaw said. “I mean, we really tried to drop some hints, particularly in the epilogue of the Burning Shores. We’re just so excited to embark on the next chapter and have the audience come along with us. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Those clues could be a number of different plot points and character arcs. Perhaps Aloy will join Seyka on her journey to restore harmony among the Quen, or maybe Seyka joins Aloy for whatever adventure comes next instead. Aloy finally drops her guard and accepts the fact that it’s okay to receive help by the end of Forbidden West, so her relationship with Seyka – romantic or otherwise – and openness to collaboration may pave the way for the Horizon multiplayer game Guerrilla is reportedly working on.
Whatever the case, Guerrilla certainly has plenty of material to draw on for future Horizon games, and perhaps we’ll catch a glimpse of that future at Sony’s May State of Play presentation.
