Gucci heir slams House of Gucci portrayal – calling Al Pacino ‘fat, short, and really ugly’

“Shameful, because he doesn’t resemble him at all,” she said

Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci may have been one of 2021’s hotly-anticipated films with a star-studded cast of Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, and Jared Leto – but the real-life Gucci family are far from happy, and boy did they make that known.

Patricia Gucci, the only daughter of Aldo Gucci, slammed the film as “painful” and an “insult” to the Gucci legacy. In a complaint penned about the film’s portrayal and published by Italy’s ANSA news agency, she said that the Gucci family were represented as “thugs, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them.”

It didn’t stop there.

The Italian heir, who ran the fashion house for 33 years until the mid-1980s, started taking personal low-blows towards legendary actor Al Pacino, 81, who plays her fictional father in House of Gucci.

“My grandfather was a very handsome man, like all the Guccis, and very tall, blue eyes and very elegant,” she said, before calling Pacino “fat, short, with sideburns, really ugly.”

“Shameful, because he doesn’t resemble him at all,” she added.

Scott has since furiously hit back, saying they should count themselves “f***ing lucky.”

Scott told Total Film: “The people that were writing from the family to us at the onset were alarmingly insulting, saying that Al Pacino did not represent physically Aldo Gucci in any shape or form.

“And yet, frankly, how could they be better represented than by Al Pacino? Excuse me! You probably have the best actors in the world, you should be so f***ing lucky,” he said.

Although the letter also noted that “the Gucci family reserve the right to take every initiative to protect their name and image, and those of their loved ones,” no legal action is currently being taken by the family.

House of Gucci is in cinemas now.
