Guardiola Labels Manchester City As Underdogs In Premier League Race

Manchester City's head coach Pep Guardiola waits for the start of the Group G Champions League soccer match between Red Star and Manchester City, at the Rajko Mitic Stadium in Belgrade, Serbia, Wednes

Manchester City's hopes of clinching a fourth consecutive Premier League title have taken a hit, with manager Pep Guardiola acknowledging that his team is now considered underdogs in the race for the trophy. Following a goalless draw against Arsenal, City finds themselves in third place in the table, trailing behind Arsenal in second and leaders Liverpool by three points.

Guardiola conceded that Liverpool are now the clear favorites to win the league, with City and Arsenal following closely behind. Despite dominating possession in the match against Arsenal, City struggled to break down their opponent's solid defense, managing just one shot on target. Guardiola humorously remarked that the only way to penetrate Arsenal's defensive block was to 'kill someone' or play with nine players.

On the other hand, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed satisfaction with his team's defensive performance, having kept two clean sheets against City this season. Arteta highlighted the progress his team has made since their 4-1 defeat at the Etihad last season, emphasizing the commitment and discipline shown by his players in the recent draw.

Looking ahead, both City and Arsenal are still alive in the Champions League, with crucial quarterfinal matches on the horizon. City will face Real Madrid, while Arsenal will take on Bayern Munich. Before their European fixtures, City will host Aston Villa, and Arsenal will play Luton Town in midweek Premier League action.
