ORLANDO, Fla. — Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, an indoor roller coaster, will make its debut at Epcot on May 27, Walt Disney World has announced.
The resort also released a 30-second commercial spot for the new attraction that features characters from the “Guardians” movie series in an Epcot setting. The footage includes a glimpse of Spaceship Earth, the Cosmic Rewind ride vehicles and scenes of something gone horribly wrong: things disappearing.
“It’s save the galaxy time … again,” says Rocket Raccoon, voiced by Bradley Cooper in the films. In “Guardians of the Galaxy” mixtape tradition, the shots are accompanied by the Ohio Players’ “Love Rollercoaster.”
Cosmic Rewind will be the third coaster to open in metro Orlando in the past year, following Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure last summer and Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando last month. The region also has seen Iron Gwazi gear up at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster debut along with the rest of Peppa Pig Theme Park in Winter Haven this year.
The Guardians ride is the first addition to Epcot since Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride and “Harmonious,” a nighttime spectacular arrived Oct. 1. Disney is also constructing a “Tron” themed coaster for Magic Kingdom, although no opening date has been announced.
