For over a decade, one building in Los Santos has stood as an unfinished punchline within the "Grand Theft Auto V" community, forever surrounded by scaffolding and never quite completed.
That running joke finally reaches its conclusion courtesy of Rockstar Games, though only within a very specific new corner of the game.
'GTA V's Unfinished Building Is Now Complete
Known in-game as the "Mile High Club," the skyscraper has remained perpetually under construction since it first appeared in "Grand Theft Auto V's" original reveal trailer back in 2011. The building briefly showed up during Cayo Perico Heist prep missions, but always in its unfinished state, never once shown completed across more than a decade of updates.
Rockstar confirmed the change through official promotional artwork accompanying its newest announcement, showing the building fully constructed for the first time.
As reported by GameRant, the completed structure has been rebranded as the Pixel Hotel, a fitting new name given the context behind its long-overdue finish. Fans reacting online, including accounts like DiscussingFilm and GTA 6 Info, quickly picked up on the moment, framing it as the closing chapter of a running joke that had followed the game since its earliest days.
Rockstar Games Finishes the Pixel Hotel
The completed building arrives specifically as part of "nopixel V," Rockstar's newly announced, officially sanctioned version of the long-running community roleplay server "nopixel."
In its newswire post, Rockstar wrote that "nopixel V" overhauls the roleplay experience with a reworked character customization system, alongside new corners of the city including the brand-new Pixel Hotel & Casino and a six-block revamp of Cypress Flats.
Rockstar described the update as bringing refreshed visuals, new ways to make a living on either side of the law, and smarter, more reactive pedestrians throughout Los Santos.
Importantly, the finished building will not appear for every "GTA V" player, since the update remains exclusive to those specifically playing on the new "nopixel V" servers, leaving the original base game's version of the skyscraper unfinished as it has always been.
What to Expect From 'nopixel V'
"nopixel V" enters a closed, invite-only beta starting September 8, running on the Rockstar Games Launcher rather than Rockstar's mainline game servers. According to reporting, roughly 439 players have been invited to participate directly, though the broader public will still get to experience the update secondhand by watching invited streamers play through livestreaming platforms once the beta goes live.
Rockstar has not confirmed when "nopixel V" might open up beyond this initial closed beta phase, and the original nopixel servers will continue operating alongside the new version, though without access to features exclusive to the officially partnered release.
The game development company also indicated further announcements are coming, including a new PC in-game overlay some have speculated could reintroduce text chat functionality into "GTA Online" and other titles.
With "Grand Theft Auto VI" still on track for its November 19 release, this nopixel V reveal offers a notable moment of closure for "GTA V," even as Rockstar continues shifting more of its attention toward the next mainline entry in the series.
