When will Rockstar release the second trailer for GTA 6? It’s a question fans have been chewing over for a year, spinning the wildest theories and chasing down every unhinged lead.
To no one’s surprise, Rockstar wasn’t subliminally beaming the release via images of the moon, as some terminally online gamers previously suggested. The dubious October 4 date that stemmed from a license plate in a promotion for GTA Online also came and went without a whimper.
But, just as GTA fans were resigning themselves to the lack of new updates this year, a meaty new clue has surfaced.
In one of the biggest signs yet of an impending reveal, Rockstar has quietly updated the YouTube playlist that includes the game’s first trailer.
As fans have suggested, the move might indicate that Rockstar is gearing up to upload and schedule the second GTA 6 trailer.
To be clear, it hasn’t done that yet, otherwise the playlist would show a thumbnail for the video (even if it was private).
Just don’t go expecting a drum roll this time round. Instead of announcing a premiere date days in advance, only for the trailer to be leaked (like it was last time), Rockstar could drop it with little warning.
So, are we getting ahead of ourselves (again) or is this the real deal? GTA fans are tentatively hopeful, especially as the update comes almost exactly a year to the day since the first trailer was released.
That clip, which gave us the first look at the game’s lead duo (ex-cons Jason and Lucia) and its Floridian setting, shattered the record for a non-music video debut on YouTube - and has since amassed more than 250 million views.
“This is the most credible hopium I've seen,” joked a user on the GTA 6 subreddit.
“Yeah I mean why would they be tweaking the playlist randomly that has only trailer 1 so far? I too am huffing copious amounts of hopium now,” replied another user.
Now, if Nintendo could give us a Switch 2 reveal, it would truly be a Christmas miracle.
