Rockstar Games has officially confirmed when players can preload "Grand Theft Auto 6" ("GTA 6") ahead of its highly anticipated release.
With preorders now live, fans can download the game in advance to avoid lengthy installation times and jump into the action as soon as it launches on November 19, 2026.
The preload schedule applies to both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to ensure players on either platform are ready for launch day.
'GTA 6' Preload Starts on November 12
Players who purchase a digital copy of "GTA 6" will be able to begin preloading the game on Thursday, November 12, 2026, exactly one week before release. Rockstar confirmed that preloads will begin at midnight local time, giving players plenty of time to install the game before it officially unlocks on November 19.
According to All Out Gaming, the preload schedule is the same for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. By offering simultaneous access across platforms, Rockstar can ensure that all players can start their adventure in Vice City and the state of Leonida at the same time.
Physical Edition Includes a Download Code
Rockstar has also confirmed that the physical edition of "GTA 6" supports preloading, but it comes with an important change.
Instead of including a Blu-ray game disc, the boxed version contains a download code. Once players receive their physical copy, they can redeem the code and begin downloading the game starting on November 12.
The code-in-box format allows physical buyers to preload the game before launch while reflecting the growing shift toward digital distribution.
'GTA 6' Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses
Rockstar is offering Standard and Ultimate editions of "GTA 6."The Standard Edition includes the base game, while the Ultimate Edition adds exclusive vehicles, weapons, apparel, and other premium in-game content.
Players who pre-order either edition before launch will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, featuring themed bonus items inspired by the series' iconic setting. Digital pre-orders also include one month of GTA+ at no additional cost.
When it comes to the latest trailer, Rockstar hasn't hinted about it yet. As for the third teaser, Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson expects it to be available by August.
Prepare Storage Before Launch Day
Although Rockstar has not announced the game's final install size, "GTA 6" is expected to require substantial storage space due to its expansive open world, enhanced graphics, and next-generation technology.
Players should ensure they have enough free storage on their console before the preload period begins.
