A fresh leak has shed new light on when players might get their hands on Grand Theft Auto VI’s online mode, and the wait may be much shorter than expected.
According to new leaks, GTA 6 Online is reportedly scheduled to launch within a month of the base game’s release. The leak, which surfaced via TheGhostOfHope on X, claims that Rockstar Games is planning a tightly aligned rollout, bringing the multiplayer online part shortly after players jump into the single-player experience.

If the leaks prove accurate, this would signal a deliberate effort by Rockstar to minimize downtime between GTA 6’s launch and its online ecosystem.
Multiplayer has become a cornerstone of the franchise’s longevity, largely thanks to the massive success of GTA Online, which continues to generate revenue and maintain an active player base more than a decade after release. It has evolved into a persistent platform featuring regular updates, seasonal content, and monetization through in-game purchases. Replicating and expanding that model will likely be central to the game’s long-term success.
GTA V was released in Sept. 2013, with its online part following roughly two weeks later. However, that rollout was far from smooth. Server instability, character wipes, and connection issues plagued the early days as the developer struggled to handle unprecedented demand.
A one-month window for GTA 6 Online suggests Rockstar may be taking a slightly more cautious approach this time, potentially allowing room for additional backend testing and infrastructure scaling before opening the floodgates.
Launching GTA 6 Online soon after release helps sustain the game’s strong launch momentum, keeping players engaged within the same ecosystem instead of drifting away after completing the story mode, and keeping them ready for GTA Online just before Christmas.
GTA 6 is projected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches of all time, meaning its online infrastructure will need to support millions of concurrent players from day one.
Despite the growing chatter, it is important to note that Rockstar has yet to officially detail GTA 6 Online, including its features, structure, or release schedule. The company has historically been tight-lipped about major announcements, often revealing details closer to launch. Until confirmation arrives, the reported one-month window remains speculative.
Still, if accurate, players may not have to wait long after GTA 6’s debut to dive into its next-generation online world.
