Groom late for own wedding caught speeding in BMW at 120mph on race to church

A groom rushing to reach his wedding day on time was caught speeding on the motorway at more than 120mph in a car on a dodgy tyre.

The man was running late for his nuptials on Sunday, June 11, when he was caught by officers from Wiltshire Police.

So desperate was he to make his nuptials, their speedometer showed the groom had been driving at 121mph on the M4 motorway.

To make matters worse, one of the car’s tyres was illegal too.

Wilshire Police Specialist Ops wrote on its Twitter account: “Usually, the bride is always late. “Unfortunately, this groom has some explaining to do after being caught at 121 mph on the M4 on the way to his wedding.

“A read nearside tyre with cord exposed topped this stop off. Driver reported to court, vehicle prohibited.

“Don’t tell the bride.”

Several people suggested online the man was going to be in plenty of trouble with his new bride, whenever he finally chose her how he spent their morning.

One said: “Absolutely no excuse for running a badly maintained car. If you can afford to buy a BMW M4, then you should well be able and have the means to buy tyres.”

Another added: “I would not like to be that bloke when he tells his missus why he was late that morning!

“I think I’d wait until my first anniversary.”

One more said: “I’d have explained to the officers and hoped to have had blues and twos to get to the ceremony on time!”

Over the weekend a groom sparked a debate online when he only invited "three people" to his intimate wedding.

The groom-to-be has admitted that his decision to have a low-key ceremony has caused a "fight" among his friends - but he's refusing to change his decision.

Taking to popular forum site Reddit, the man claims that the best man - who is one of the attendees - is refusing to attend unless his partner is added to the guest list.

In the post, the anonymous user explained: "My fiancée and I want to get married this year. We both don't like traditional weddings and don't like being the centre of attention.

“We want to get married primarily for us because we love each other - not for other people.

"If we had to have a traditional wedding with a lot of people, we would probably rather not get married.”
