The Villupuram police arrested one person on charges of selling banned gutkha products, following a raid at a grocery store in Kaanai near Villupuram on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, the police team seized over 3,000 packets of banned tobacco-based products, which were allegedly being sold directly to customers.
Police arrested the shop owner S. Manikandan, 32, of Kaanai in this connection. He was produced before a local court and remanded in custody.
