Grinning drug dealer hid cocaine inside kitchen hob extractor fan

A grinning drug dealer had the smile wiped off his face after he was jailed for being caught with cocaine hidden inside a kitchen hob extractor fan. Jack Humphries, 27, beamed for the camera as he had his mugshot taken following his arrest in June last year.

Officers had raided his home and found 12 grams of cocaine worth £1,300, a container of cannabis and digital scales. Dad-of-two Humphries was arrested and released under investigation while police examined his mobile phone.

His home address was then searched again in March this year where 13.83 grams of cocaine was found concealed inside the grating of a hob extractor fan. More than £450 in cash, a machete, a phone, deal bags and digital scales were also seized from the property in the Fenton area of in Stoke-on-Trent.

Humphries admitted possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of a class B drug and possession with intent to supply a class B drug. He was jailed for seven years and two months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court last Wednesday (May 25).

PC Ian Prendergast, of Staffordshire Police, said: “Humphries continued his criminal behaviour despite being arrested and charged back in June last year. He attempted to conceal the drugs in his home and was intent on circulating these harmful substances within our communities for his own criminal gain.

“I am happy with the sentence and hope it assures the public that we continue to do all we can to disrupt the supply of drugs in Staffordshire."
