A devastated Leeds grandad has spoken of how he’ll dearly “miss” his neighbour whose body was found by ambulance crews.
Mark, who was believed to be in his 40s, has been named locally as the man who was sadly found dead inside his house in Wykebeck Mount, Halton, earlier today. West Yorkshire Police crime scene investigators were at the house with a documentary film crew in attendance while investigations continue.
Next door neighbour David Bathick, 71, spoke of how Mark was popular in the community as he was always friendly. The retired builder shared his fond memories of when he and his son would sit with Mark in his garden around a bonfire for hours, chatting and drinking a few beers.

David said: “He was a good lad, he never bothered the neighbours or owt like that. Everybody got on with him. He had a lot of people coming to the house all the time.
“He was very friendly, I used to always say hello to him. I feel sad, I just miss him. I did some decorating work for him.
“He liked to have a bonfire; me and my son used to go around and have a couple of beers with him. We’d have a drink around the fire for a couple of hours.”
The entrance of the house was taped off by police following the shock death. An ITN documentary crew was also in attendance and invited into the house to film the scene.
A spokesperson for the force said: "At 1.50pm today, police were contacted by ambulance service who had received a report of a male found dead at an address in Wykebeck Mount, Leeds.
“Officers attended and confirmed a man was deceased in the address. A scene is in place and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death."
