An unidentified individual threw a grenade at a military draft office in the western Ukrainian town of Busk overnight, causing an explosion but fortunately not injuring anyone, according to police reports on Monday.
The police have issued a statement indicating that they are actively investigating the incident. This incident comes at a time when Ukraine is intensifying its efforts to draft civilians into the armed forces, more than two years since the invasion by Russia.
Authorities in the western Lviv region have confirmed that the explosion resulted in damage to the facade of the draft office and its windows. The individual responsible for the attack fled the scene after throwing the grenade, as reported by the police.
Throughout the ongoing conflict, there have been numerous instances of men fleeing Ukraine to evade military service. In recent months, Ukrainian media outlets have also reported incidents of violence targeting draft offices and draft officers.
When questioned about their concerns regarding these incidents, Ukraine's military emphasized the importance of maintaining public trust. They stated that public trust is a crucial component of the armed forces' activities and is essential for achieving victory over the enemy.
