Greg Olsen brilliantly called Jerick McKinnon’s Super Bowl-sealing decision right before it happened

GLENDALE, Ariz. — It’s a shame that Greg Olsen will likely hand over the Fox lead NFL analyst duties to Tom Brady in 2024 because the guy is simply outstanding at the job.

He showed exactly why on Sunday.

Calling his first Super Bowl in his first full season as an NFL broadcaster, Olsen was all over the decisive play where Jerick McKinnon went down right before the goal line. The decision to turn down that touchdown meant that the Chiefs were able to run out much of the clock before kicking the game-winning field goal.

And you really have to appreciate the awareness from Olsen to see the moment right before McKinnon went down intentionally.

“Yeah, he’s gotta get down. He’s gotta get down,” Olsen said right before McKinnon took that slide at the two-yard line. It was a heads-up football play McKinnon, and not many analysts would call that decision out in real time.

Olsen’s performance throughout the night was great, but that moment, in particular, showed why he’s suited for the job as Fox’s lead NFL analyst.

This was how Twitter reacted

He was all over the play there.
