Greg Norman 'got goosebumps' as LIV rebels told him what they will do at end of Masters

Greg Norman claims he 'got goosebumps' when his LIV Golf rebels told him how they would cheer each other on at The Masters.

The presence of 18 LIV renegades at Augusta National adds a fascinating subplot to the first major of the year amid heightened tensions during the most fractious time in the history of professional golf.

It marks what has now become a rare meeting of all the biggest names in the sport after players poached by the contentious Saudi-funded series were struck with indefinite bans from the PGA Tour.

LIV players - including six former champions - will be desperate to silence the doubters and prove they have not given up on their competitive relevance by joining a 54-hole limited format invitational circuit.

2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson and last year's Open winner Cameron Smith will lead the LIV contention with fireworks promised at the most prestigious venue in golf.

And LIV's commissioner and firebrand Norman has revealed that there is already discussions in the locker room over unified support on the 18th green - should one of his defectors have a chance to win the Green Jacket.

“There’s talk in our teams all around here, there are 18 or us LIV guys at Augusta and if one of the guys, no matter who it is, they are all going to be there on the 18th green, they are all going to be there, and that just gives me goosebumps to think about,” he told NewsCorp.

“When you walk up 18, your caddy hugs you then you see your wife or your mum and dad. Now to have those 17 other guys there, that’s the spirit we want. That’s what these guys talk about. They are saying no matter who wins, no matter who is in that position, we are going to be there. And that just gives me goosebumps to think about.”

Norman was speaking at LIV's third event of the season in Orlando, where a host of players are sharpening their game before the trip down Magnolia Lane.

A rejuvenated Brooks Koepka leads by three heading into Sunday's final round at Orange County National and is hitting form at the right time ahead of his bid for a fifth major victory at Augusta.
