Greg James clipped by van while cycling through central London, in footage recorded by Jeremy Vine

Radio 1 presenter Greg James was nearly knocked off his bike after a van reversed into him while he was out cycling with Jeremy Vine.

James was forced to smack on the vehicle as it slowly backed into him while the presenters were taking a ride through central London.

The incident was captured by a camera strapped to the top of Vine’s head, which he regularly uses to shame drivers across the capital.

The veteran broadcaster captured the moment James tried to move around a van before the vehicle began to quickly reverse, nearly pushing the presenter into a street sign.

The clip later showed him confronting the driver joking: “What the hell man. It’s the guy from Radio 1. You can’t back into Greg James.”

Moments earlier Vine had recorded the van running over a Lime Bike on a quiet London street.

Analysing the near-miss with James, Vine said: “You did nothing wrong there but you will be blamed for that.

“When that happened to me, someone backed into me, I was told I was hovering near the back of the van.”

Vine could be heard telling James “I never get this many incidents” as they continued to cycle, with the Radio 1 presenter quipping “after him Vine” as they witnessed a driver on the wrong side of the road.

A keen cyclist, Vine is well known for policing London’s roads with his head mounted camera, posting edited clips from his 360 degree camera to social media.

His videos recently made headlines after former footballer Joey Barton agreed to pay the broadcaster £75,000 in damages after branding him a “bike nonce” on social media.

The Radio 2 and Channel 5 presenter sued Barton for libel and harassment over 14 online posts, including ones where he called Vine a “big bike nonce” and a “pedo defender” on X, formerly Twitter.
