Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is criminally investigating at least 17 incidents from the Trump administration’s surge in Minneapolis.
The investigation focuses on accusations of unlawfully targeting immigrants and citizens, and violent clashes with protesters, including Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino reportedly lobbing a smoke canister into a crowd.
Among the incidents under review are the fatal shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by Border Patrol agents, none of whom have been criminally charged.
Bovino, who led operations in several Democratic-led states, was reportedly pulled from Minnesota after the fatal shootings and had a controversial Chicago operation marked by lawsuits and allegations of violent force.
The administration has formally blocked state law enforcement from accessing information or evidence in the case of Alex Pretti’s death, while Hennepin County officials opened a public evidence-collection portal.
