Greens confirm environmental lawyer as newest senator

A veteran anti-forestry campaigner from Tasmania will join the Australian Greens in the Senate. (Mick Tsikas/AAP PHOTOS)

Vanessa Bleyer will become the newest member of the Australian Senate after winning a four-horse race among Greens candidates.

The environmental lawyer will replace the retiring Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, who announced his departure from politics last October.
