The Green Party has announced its candidate for the Stretford and Urmston by-election on December 15. Dan Jerrome, group leader on Trafford council, will be challenging Labour for the seat being vacated by Kate Green.
He said he would focus on the climate emergency, on how it connects to the cost-of-living crisis, and on holding the Labour-run council to account for their 'inaction'. Coun Jerrome has been a councillor for Altrincham since 2018, when the Green Party first broke through to gain seats there.
He said: "This by-election comes at a time of a cost of living crisis and a climate emergency. We are the only party offering positive solutions, ones that match the urgency.
