A greengrocer has been forced to ditch his retirement plans after trading for 25 years in order to keep his business alive. Husband-and-wife team Andy and Tracy Rafter have run Rafters greengrocers in Hull for a quarter of a century.
In the absence of a price cap on business energy bills, Andy's current electricity supplier has quoted him a new monthly charge of £7,500 when his current contract ends in March - a massive spike of £6,580 per month on what he currently pays.
As reported by Hull Live, Andy said: "We have been with our current supplier for 12 years. The best alternative quote we found was £5,599 per month and that has now been withdrawn.
