A pub in West Lothian has found itself at the centre of a race row after Greene King sought permission to change its name, to the anger of locals.
The pub, which is called "The Black Bitch", is named after a local legend which involves a black dog brought food to its starving owner.
But those unfamiliar with the story could be forgiven for misinterpreting the pub's name despite the legend being widely known among the community, even featuring on the town's heraldic crest.
