Greene King is giving away free pints - full list of 23 surnames that will get you one

You can get a free drink at Greene King pubs if you share a surname with one of the England Women's Euro football squad, the Lionesses.

The tournament gets underway this July with 16 nations - including hosts England - aiming to become champions of Europe.

It starts with the Lionesses' game against Austria at Old Trafford on July 6 and ends with the final at Wembley 25 days later.

When the tournament kicks off Greene King is giving away a free pint, bottle of Ice Breaker pale ale or a soft drink to anyone who qualifies.

Brits are nearly three times more likely to have heard of a male England footballer than their female counterparts, according to a study by Greene King.

To claim the free drink, all qualifying customers have to do is show their photo ID at the bar during a live Euros England group game.

More than 800 pubs are taking part in the giveaway (Tim Gander/PinPep)

The offer is available across 810 participating pubs, bar Scotland, during each of the three live England Women’s Euro group stage matches.

You have to show a valid and in-date photo ID, such as a driving licence or passport, and have one of the following surnames:

  • Earps
  • Hampton
  • Roebuck
  • Bright
  • Bronze
  • Carter
  • Daly
  • Greenwood
  • Stokes
  • Wubben-Moy
  • Kirby
  • Scott
  • Stanway
  • Toone
  • Walsh
  • Williamson
  • England
  • Hemp
  • Kelly

Chris Conchie, head of marketing for Greene King sport said: “Despite the fact that the Women’s Euros tournament grows in popularity each year, there is still a massive lack of awareness and support for the individuals who make up our incredible team.

“This limited time offer isn’t just about a free drink, it’s a chance to show support right across the UK for our Lionesses and champion the incredible UK talent on display on the world stage.”
