A comet from the outer solar system will pass by our planetary neighbourhood for the first time in 50,000 years.
Today (January 12), the comet, formally known as C/2022 E3 (ZTF), will make its closest approach to the sun and may be bright enough to be seen with binoculars and a telescope.
