Green comet last seen by Neanderthals 50,000 years ago is now visible from Earth

A rare green comet that was last seen during the time of the Neanderthals can now be viewed from Earth and may be visible to the naked eye.

The E3 comet was last seen from Earth 50,000 years ago during the Stone Age and made its closest approach to the Sun on January 12.

The best chance to spot the comet from Earth is said to be next Wednesday (February 1) when it is expected to come make its closest approach to Earth — passing within 26 million miles of the planet.
