Greater Manchester weather forecast for today - sun, showers and risks of hail and thunder

The rainy weather looks set to continue across Greater Manchester today.

After a wet Bank Holiday Monday, there is expected to be a cloudy start to Tuesday. According to the Met Office, there will then be outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, before brightening up through the morning.

Forecasters have predicted plenty of sunny spells and perhaps some showers, which could be locally heavy with hail and thunder possible.

Forecasters say it will feel warm in the sunshine with a maximum temperature of 17 C. Any showers are expected to ease into the evening, leaving plenty of late sunshine.

Overnight, fairly clear skies are predicted, although it could turn cloudier through the early hours of the morning with showery outbreaks. Temperatures could reach a low of 9C.

The rest of the week is set to see a mix of sunny spells and showers. On Wednesday, there will be mix of sunny spells and showers through the day, according to the Met Office. Temperatures could reach a high of 16C.

From Thursday to Saturday, the Met Office said: "Sunny spells and showers on Thursday. Cloudy but drier on Friday, perhaps with the odd shower. Cloudy again on Saturday with some patchy rain and drizzle. Warm in any sunshine."

Elsewhere, flood alerts are currently in force for parts of England. The warnings cover parts of the south of the country, including the River Rhee in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire; the River Thame and Chalgrove Brook; and the River Whitewater and River Hart.
